As the highly anticipated “Twisted Metal” series gears up for its debut on Peacock, lead actor Anthony Mackie already has his sights set on another iconic video game franchise for a potential movie or TV adaptation: “Metal Gear Solid.”
In a recent interview with The Wrap, Anthony Mackie discussed his excitement for “Twisted Metal” and was asked about his dream video game project. Mackie expressed his enthusiasm for bringing “Metal Gear Solid” to the big screen or TV, stating, “There’s so many video games that I would love to see turned into movies just so you can go on a journey with those characters. I would love to do ‘Metal Gear Solid.’ I feel like there’s so many characters that we learned of and we fell in love with through video games that would make cool IP to turn into television shows and movies.”
Mackie’s desire for a live-action adaptation of “Metal Gear Solid” aligns with the ongoing efforts in Hollywood to bring the beloved video game series to audiences in a new form. At one point, director Jordan Vogt-Roberts was attached to the project, with Oscar Isaac rumored to star as the iconic Solid Snake.
Meanwhile, “Twisted Metal” takes a creative spin on the video game genre, offering a half-hour action-comedy series set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Mackie stars as John Doe, a witty milkman with no memory of his past, who embarks on a dangerous journey to deliver a mysterious package through a perilous landscape filled with deadly adversaries and vehicular combat.
